James Ranger is the Senior Pastor of New Life Center, Foursquare Church, a creative church located in Bakersfield, California. At first glance you’d see a unique communicator, a gifted musician and song writer, and a loving pastor whose church is a reflection of his passion to reconnect people to their Abba.  Looking a little deeper you would see that Pastor James is a devoted husband to his wife Lydia of nearly thirty years, a proud father of his two sons and their wives, and a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren.

James and Lydia have pastored New Life Center since 1988.  With a heart to see people reunited with their Savior, the church family has grown from 45 to over 2000 in attendance and is still continuing to grow. James is passionate about having fun in church and using creative nontraditional methods to reach this modern culture with the message of living a God-inspired life. He challenges people to fulfill their true purpose, become mature followers of Christ and flourish in every area of life.

He truly enjoy the journey he is on.  You’ll find this through James’ unique method of communicating. Teaching, music and the development of leaders are the primary focus of his ministry; and he delights in watching those he has mentored step out as leaders in ministry and secular pursuits.
